Welcome to Shomaisou Shiba Inu. We are undergoing a facelift at this site so you may still see pages in the old format. This page includes current litter announcements, puppy updates, evaluation links, and placement information for families following our breeding program. We will be doing a complete re-write of our FAQ and have decided that Newsletters and the Blog below were redundant, so we will continue doing updates to our Blog below and we will preserve the older Newsletters.

Our puppies are raised with careful attention to health, structure, temperament, breed type, and best-fit placement. Final placement decisions are made thoughtfully as puppies mature and are evaluated.

Michiko (“Michi”) – Retired Adult Shiba Available

We are looking for the right companion home for Michiko, affectionately known as Michi. Michi is a sweet, mature red female Shiba Inu who was bred and whelped by Shomaisou Shiba Inu.

Michi’s registered name is Gaylord’s Michi BB Shomaisou. She was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2017, as part of a Thanksgiving-themed litter. Her temporary puppy name was Butterball, which is where the “BB” in her registered name comes from.

Michi is now spayed and retired from our breeding program. She has been a valued part of Shomaisou and is now ready for the right home where she can continue life as a cherished companion.

A Sweet, Easy Girl

Michi is a very sweet girl and easy to live with. She has a pleasant, stable temperament and settles well into a normal household routine. She is past the puppy stage and may be a wonderful fit for someone who loves the Shiba Inu breed but prefers the predictability and maturity of an adult dog.

She has also spent time in a physical therapy business environment, so she is accustomed to people coming and going throughout the day in a calm, professional setting. That background may make her especially appealing for a quieter home, a work-from-home household, or even an office environment.

Boundary Trained With a Wireless Fence Collar

Michi is accustomed to using a wireless fence collar system that gives warning cues when she approaches the permitted roaming boundary. She understands the routine and responds well to the system.

As with any containment system, continued supervision and responsible use are important, but her experience with this type of setup may be beneficial for the right home.

Why Consider an Adult Shiba?

Adult Shiba placements can be a wonderful option for the right person or family. With an adult dog, much more is already known about personality, temperament, energy level, and daily habits.

Michi may be a great fit for someone who wants the companionship of a Shiba Inu without starting from the puppy stage. She is clean, manageable, affectionate, and easy to live with.

As with every Shomaisou placement, Michi will not be placed on a first-come, first-served basis. Our goal is to find the right long-term home where she will be loved, understood, and well cared for.
